Single People and Gays Adopting Children? Are you Serious

2-Nov-02

Dear Editor

Every day you hear about the bad behaviour, bad manners and how out of control our children are today even the Government have announced plans to bring these Ferrell Kids into line. Yet at the same time this is happening the government want to change the law on adoption, they want single people, unmarried couples and homosexuals/Lesbians to be able to adopt. All the evidence points to the fact that children brought up in a stable married environment do better and have a much more settled life. Of course this does not mean that some single parents and cohabitating couples are not doing a good job in bringing up children but if we are artificially going to create a family which is what adoption is surely it must be done with the greatest chance of success for the sake of the children. My main concern is not that unmarried couples can adopt, they have to prove that they are in a long time stable committed relationship (how they prove that without being married must be very difficult). Their relationship will be quite normal ie  2 parents, 1 male, 1 female but how can you justify allowing a single person being allowed to adopt with all the problems genuine single parents already have, The idea of Homosexuals/Lesbians being able to adopt is ludicrous how can anyone suggest this is a normal life style, of course the very powerful Gay lobby will push for the ability to adopt. I very much doubt if this Gay lobby has the children in mind it is just a tool for them and their ilk to try and get their life style recognised as normal. None of us must forget its children’s future they have in their hands and they should not be used as a political tool.

Yet when a coloured couple (one of them was ½ Irish) who had fostered children for many year, tried to adopt a black baby who they had brought up since a baby of two weeks old, they were refused because the mother was not Black enough! Where is the logic in that?

TIME HAS COME TO RID US OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND RETURN TO GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE.
