METRIC SCAM

The latest rumour spreading the town is that a local shopkeeper is to be taken to court for using imperial weights (Stones and pounds) instead of Metric weights (Kilo and grams) therefore becoming another metric martyr. I hope this is unfounded and that our Council has better things to do with our money but rumour were rife in September of last year about the Coniston and look what happened there!
What concerns me is the interference that the European Union has over our lives they seem to want to control every aspect of an individual life, most of the time with detrimental affect. Early this year the government pushed through Parliament EC regulations making it a criminal offence, as from 2010 to mention imperial units at all. Our freedoms are slowly being eroded away, once the constitution of the UK could be encapsulated in Twelve Words “I am a subject of the Crown and therefore a free man” can you say that now in a few years time a foreign power may have to rescue us from a European dictatorship. The EU even want to ban Political Parties that do not agree with them.
Metrification is actually cheating the shopper and putting
prices up, how simple when major companies change from imperial to metric they
downsize ie 4 pints of milk now becomes 2 litres (3 ½ pints). One major
supermarket (Editor Co-op) four pint container were priced 83p (September 2000)
their two litre containers cost 79p. The containers look about the same size but
cost 8% more, even things like tins of beans have been change one company can of
beans were 8ozs (227g) they are now 205g, the price remained the same. We are
all being ripped of by this massive scam called Metrification simply because the
great majority of us do not understand metrification and more importantly do not

goods have show both imperial and metric and loose goods can be done in what
ever the trader wants.
With Local elections
coming up lets ask all candidates of all political persuasion what they think of
the Metric scam and the interference of the EU in local government, ask what
they intend doing about it?
