A
recent law has been passed by the European Union, which comes into force in
January 2002 in which Fridges and Freezers are classified as having Hazardous
waste and as such can no longer be just dumped. They have to be processed by a
specialist company which I am informed will cost about £30 a fridge. At present
there doesn’t seem to be anyone in the country who can perform this task. Can
I ask through your letters page if Swale Borough Council or Kent County Council
has any contingency plans? Also will the individual have to pay him or herself?
As I fear the countryside will be awash with abandoned fridges and Freezers.
Did
you also no that the very popular “Witherspoons Pub chain” is backing the
campaign against the Euro.
Did
you know if Bin Laden was captured in the UK he would not be allowed to be
extradited to the USA because it would be against The European Human Rights
Convention as some of the USA states allow capital punishment. The ECHR that
this amounted to “torture, inhuman and degrading form of punishment” Tell
that to the friends and relatives of the people who died on September 11th
