I have for many years been very interested and active in politics, although my mother is German, I have always been patriotic, proud to be English, proud to be British. My reasons for this are many fold, the main criteria being our lust for freedom. Yet I now look at our country and see nearly everything that has been fought for being taken away of course I refer to our membership of the European Union let me list some of my concerns:
1) England pays £1,250,000 per hour to the EU as membership fees.
2) For every pound we get back from the EU costs the English Taxpayer £4.15
3) The Euro is run by un elected people
4) Joining the Euro could cost us English £1billion about £650 per person?
5) The European Commission was found to be involved in fraud, yet no one was prosecuted.
6) All officials of the EU have lifetime immunity from prosecution?
7) No building occupied by EU officials can be searched?
8) Under EU law our queen can be arrested and taken to another country for trial?
9) The EU are planning to give it self powers to impose direct rule from Brussels if any country doesn’t fall in line with EU regulations?
10) Europol (Europe official Police force) are immune from the legal process, can they then do what ever they like in the name of the Law?
11) Are the New Regional assemblies going to match European constituencies if so why?
12) Bureaucrats with criminal records hold powerful positions in the EU?
13) Because of the EU Common Agricultural Policy each English Family pays an extra £1000 per annum on food?
14) Europol have files on those who might be doing something against the EU?
15) In England we believe that the State is the servant of the people yet the EU believe people are the servant of the state?
16) The EU wants to change our judicial system so trial by jury is not an automatic right, imprisonment for up to 6 months without charge will be allowed.
17) As the EU expands freedom of travel will lead to a massive invasion of peoples who do not speak our language or understand our culture?
The list could go on for ever the main questions therefore are, The English people gain nothing financial out of the EU in fact it is a financial burden, our statuary rights are being taken away, we moving from a democracy to a plutocracy, our culture is being eroded, our laws are being taken away without consultation, our right of free speech is being eroded and the ability of the individual to be in contact with the people who govern reduced to nil. With all this evidence why are we still part of the European Union?
None of the major parties support a withdrawal, in fact the LibDems and New labour are totally in favour, these two parties support most of the activities and aims of the EU, the Conservatives have doubters but still see us as an active member. With the development of this new super state our Parliament and its political parties will become an irrelevance. Surely by ignoring the wishes of the people and distancing them from the rulers will only end up with terrorists groups of the future fighting for independence of their homelands. The one thing I am sure of is that we do not learn by our past mistakes.
I may be wrong in all my assumption and I willing to listen to anyone that can convince me that the European Union can benefit the English nation and mankind as a whole.
Yours Faithfully
Martin Clarke
